I had another good long sleep over 10 hours last night. Woke up this morning, wasn't hungry straight away so I prepared a steak and veggie stew that should have done me for 2-3 meals, but I blended it into a thick broth cos I love broths and soups, and it was so tasty that before I knew it, I'd eaten the whole stew over a period of about an hour! I just kept going back for more.

An hour after that I polished off some goats cheese with garlic and herbs and a few low carb crackers. Another hour after that, I ate a whole tub of cottage cheese with pineapple and then I ate 3 dessertspoons of thick cream. Finally I washed the dishes and am now sitting down with a cuppa.

I wasn't so much hungry as enjoying the taste of my food again. I feel a bit like an ex smoker who's just getting the use of their taste buds back again. Now I feel like fruit and then that's it. :D

You're not getting any cravings by any chance are you? :)

Ha! Well, yes I did get strange cravings about 36 years ago when I had my first son! Bit past it now.

Be interesting to hear of others cravings 'what they were?' :)

Mine was cucumber and gallons of ice cold milk .
Our only daughter 'loves these even now' .

My mother craved carrots whilst expecting me .

The young mums of today crave ice cubes I have heard :o
[this definetely 'is' a low carb craving  ]

I had very strong cravings right the way through with my first child - it was very specific in its timing too. During the day I craved tomatoes. I used to buy bags of tomatoes and eat them like sweets as I walked along the road doing my shopping. Also, Heinz Tomato soup, tomato based sauces, ratatouille etc. As soon as it got dark, especially around 10pm, I'd be desperate for chip shop curry. If you'd have offered me a proper curry I'd have cried - it had to be the real cheapo chip shop stuff for some reason.

Incidentally, my son was born at 10.10pm, just around my curry time!

Don't remember having any cravings with the second child. Ate anything and everything. :D

I had to have chilli everyday LOL and I ate ice cubes or any other kind of ice however we have subsequently discovered that in my family (and its also true for some other folk I know) that if we start craving ice we're probably anaemic. It's still one of the first signs for me if my iron levels are dipping!

Chicken shish kebab and pasta with red pesto. But only quite early on - up to about 20 weeks. Then didn't have any cravings but could just eat * anything*, as much as I wanted, never gained excess weight - being pregnant was fabulous! :)

Type 2 on Metformin, diagnosed Jan 2013, ultra low carber, Hba1C at diagnosis 8% (64), average BS now between 5 and 6 mmol.

My mother craved the smell of shoe polish. I craved the dry mud off certain potatoes. :-)

It's odd really, but pregnant or not, I love the smell of the clay that clings around some potatoes. I especially used to love the smell of Cyprus spuds soil and I would cook them in their skins complete with clay clinging to them. I think its probably because we're short of some mineral or other.
