What insulins are you taking? Are you carb counting and confident adjusting your insulin to match your carbs?

I didn't imply / suggest you were eating "too many" carbs. What do you think is too many carbs?

What I asked was: are you carb counting and are you confident in adjusting your insulin dose to match your carbs? If you aren't carb counting you might want to check out the free NHS online course - https://www.bertieonline.org.uk

Also, what is your total daily dose that is making you concerned about taking "so much" insulin?

If your aim in considering low carbing is to achieve a lower total daily dose you should be aware that it doesn't necessarily work like that. Low carbing can cause physiological insulin resistance, increasing your insulin:carb ratio. Low carbing can also mean that you have to consider bolusing for protein. Your body wants to get glucose from somewhere, when you are eating a decent carb intake it will get glucose from the carbs, if you aren't eating enough carbs to keep its glucose stores stocked then your body will have to look elsewhere and it will turn the protein you eat into glucose which will raise your blood sugar.

We all have different carb/insulin ratios, some people simply require more insulin than others.

Depending on what it is you are looking for, one of the forums here is aimed at people following the Low Carb High Fat (LCHF) lifestyle,

This may not be the best route for you to take but you'll need to decide this for yourself. I don't follow it but I have reduced my carb intake.

Do you know how much carbohydrate you eat each day? You could start by trying to keep a food diary and see where you are with respect to the recommended intake of about 250g per day. Once you know this you can see where you might be able to make reductions. You can reduce your intake slowly this way.

You could also give us some idea what you would typically eat in a day, and maybe people here can help you tweak your diet.

Also, take a look here......

I have been eating low carb most of my adult life as the idea of my eating hundreds of grams of carbs a day would have killed me by the time I was 30 - I had symptoms of hypoglycemia and I could put on several pounds a week on the diets I was given in my twenties when Twiggy was the ideal.
I now find that my ideal diet to control my type two diabetes is exactly the same as the one to control my weight and give me energy.
If I can advise on the way that some low carbers begin - by removing the heavy carb foods and substituting lower carb ones and gradually cutting back until they begin to lose weight - I have all sorts of lists and notes. I am 66 now, so have had a long time to sort out the various strategies of eating low carb.
On a cholesterol lowering diet I was putting on weight rapidly, until my diagnosis. I am now several stones lighter and a lot faster.
