Type 2 Electrolytes

Hi all

I have type 2 and tend to get dehydrated very quickly

I was looking at electrolytes instead of just plain water (which flush electrolytes away)

Are there any recommendations I can try to stay hydrated for longer ?

I’ve started something called High 5 Zero , it’s used in sports to replenish lost electrolytes without any sugars and extremely low carbs

Thanks

I add a pinch of pink Himalayan salt to my morning pint glass of iced water, along with the juice of half a fresh lime and repeat at least once a day (other glasses of water are just plain water). I also add salt to meals and take magnesium supplements to ward off cramps.

This electrolyte powder is zero carb, cheap and works well, although I only need it when exercising strenuously or in the hot sun: https://www.bulk.com/uk/electrolyte-powder.html

Have you considered why you are getting dehydrated easily? Are you exercising hard? Have the heating too high?
Or maybe your blood sugars are going too high? Do you have a blood glucose meter, or your latest HbA1c reading to hand? If you’re too high your body will make you pee more to get rid of the excess sugar and you can dehydrate quickly.
