Employment and diabetes

I apply for work and every time i get a response i get told i cant get a job with them as i too much of a liability as i inject insulin and get told if i had a pump they would reconsider so i go to my consultant and he says my bs levels are too high for his liking but i not ill enough any ideas how i can get round this problem so i can get a job
I have tried volunteer work but get the same back too much of a liability

While I would say most diabetics do not classify themselfs as disabled, depending on the job employers could well be in breach of the disability descrimination act (DDA) by not employing a diabetic if they were suitable for the job and refushed it on the grounds of having diabetes.

some jobs are excempt from the DDA will need a lot of reading to go through it the basics are shown on the diabetes org site, I did have a quick look on the goverment site but looked like heavy reading.

Contact the EASS helpline as they are the government helpline foe the equality act. Sounds very Mich like discrimination to me. I can't think of many jobs that would be allowed deny someone who injects diabetes a job.

I wouldn't mention that I'm diabetic. I know employers shouldn't discriminate against people, but with lots of people going for the same job employers have the pick so I bet they wouldn't knowingly employ a diabetic. I never put on an application form im diabetic.

I never mention I'm diabetic until I get the job, you don't know if you will get a job when your applying so why should they need to know your diabetic? Obviously it's different for some jobs like the armed forces but on the whole it shouldn't effect your application.
