I've just had my annual appointment with the specialist regarding my Metabolic Syndrome.
As I thought, my HbA1c readings have risen a little to 50 from 48
I'd suspected that had happened as my average daily readings had risen to mid 6's (used to be 5's) I've had 3 months of continual stress due to hubbys illness and oncoming operation. Stress now doubled due to my recent gynaelogical problem which has me on an urgent 2 week referral.
Anyway she was still really pleased and said that I have excellent control and she was happy for me to continue on diet and exercise alone. Kidneys, liver, blood pressure all looking great.
I brought up the problem of my weight .. I have stayed the same for the last 2 years despite trying so hard to lose.
She then suggested that Jardiance/Empagliflozin might actually help with weight loss. She said it was a fairly new drug and most of her patients had lost weight on it. She was unsure how it would work with LCHF but said it was up to me if I would like to try it. She also added that although she was happy with my glucose control it would help there too.
Have any of you had any experience of this ? also any low carbers taking it ? All advice welcome, thanks x
