Type of diabetes
Type 1
So, I have been type 1 since 2009 and recently changed doctors. My new doctor is really surprised that I haven't ever been referred to any specialists or had any complications because of my diabetes. ( basically neglected by my previous doctor) So my new doctor has referred me to "ENDOCRINOLOGY" for testing but I haven't got a clue what to expect or anything? My control has been very good and my doctor confirmed this on my last visit why am I suddenly being referred to specialists?

I have always seen the specialists, for me that means a hospital clinic as opposed to the local GP.....

its not a bad thing, they will know more and be able to offer more support, treatment options etc...

Hi @Tom.thomas61 I wouldn't worry about being under the microscope so to speak, think of it as a tick box exercise to say you've been seen but as you've not been seen by them and you've got great control then they may be interested to see what you do also, you may learn more too, so it can only be a good thing to see them.

I know that feeling of leaving the GP wishing I'd asked why! I'm getting better at it thou.
My endo is brilliant. Hoping to be discharged soon. He is happy to help me with bariatric surgery changes then I can send them my 'thankyou'. A great team.
