Enlite Glucose Sensor

My daughter is currently using the Medtronic pump, due to a major hypo in April, which caused a seizure, and now unable to detect a hypo, she has started using the Enlite Glucose Sensor along side the pump, which she has used occasionally before the hypo, it helps monitor the very random blood glucose readings, which also helps by detecting a hypo before it happens. Is anyone else using the Enlight and if so, is anyone experiencing great difficulties in getting hold of any based on the continued increase in demand, they have revised the availability estimates and believe that supply constraints will remain for some months. As a result, there may be some delays in shipping sensors. This has been going on months already. I have placed an order and apparently we are not a priority as we have just started using the sensor, why carry on taking orders if they cannot be fulfilled. How do I get hold of them, she is fully funded, it is essential that I can get hold of the sensors especially when she has no hypo detection.

I placed an order last month and was warned there could be a delay. I was asked if I was fully funded which I confirmed. I was told when my order would arrive (pump supplies) and that if the sensors weren't included I should telephone the following day for an update.
The sensors didn't arrive and when I phoned I was told I was marked as a priority and was asked how many sensors I had left. I said that I had 3 left but had restarted my present one to try to get another 6 days from it, as I was worried I might not get a delivery for some time. This was a Thursday and I was told they would probably get more supplies on Monday and I could phone then for an update. My sensors were delivered the following day, marked urgent. This was great for me but I found it strange that they didn't know about this delivery the previous day.

That does seem odd, but really good you got the sensors. My daughters order was placed last Monday, with no priority or urgency considering how unsteady her diabetes is at a crucial time in her life due to her being 13. I will also have to try ringing again tomorrow, I did ring today, with no stock available, and no expected delivery date.

They have sent out warning emails of limitted stocks again today.

Although they did say current users were a priority.

When I phoned I got told my hospital had them. Then that no order from hosp received. Then email fro hosp saying they looking in to. Then magically 2 days later they arrived.

Have you got contact details for your rep?

I was about to mention the rep. Mine was very helpful when I had problems placing an order over a year ago. If you don't have contact details for your rep, ask your DSN.

Yes I did get the email, this has been going on for a while already, and they are not getting closer to having them readily available.

I don't have rep details, I deal with the diabetic specialist nurse at the hospital.

My suspicion is that the Enlite 2 sensors that we use in Europe are made in the same plant as the Enlite 3 sensors that the 670G uses in the US.

You aboslutely can't sell the 670G without the Enlites as they simply aren't worth it, so with the plans to ship 20,000 by September, I suspect that the manufacturing line for Enlite 2s has had it's capacity reduced to allow for the newer sensors for the 670G. This would result in a global shortage of Enlite 2s.

I'm even more suspicious that this is the reason simply because the issues started at pretty much exactly the time that the 670G large scale roll out launched in the US.

Bit annoying really... I just heard Friday that I've been granted a further 6 months funding but having difficulty getting sensors and having to chase up hospital and Medtronic is a pain.
I waited before and phoned up Medtronic. Got told that hosp not ordered and they had to get order in otherwise it was a first come first get when tge stock arrived on the Tuesday.
Just an added nuisance having to chase two lots of people when all we want is an easier life.
