I know I am making changes again...and have written else where on here but to not complicate matters...........I was wondering......

at home I have made adjustments to my diet and to my insulin...I am on DAFNE program.....exercise etc etc.....struggle...poor sugars etc etc all very tedious and boring and what I've come to expect no matter what I do...
then I visit my family for two weeks.....my over night dawn phenomenon changes to sugars dropping quite a lot over night....two hypos before breakfast twice in one week as opposed to high morning bloods...
usual constipation......eat more carbs and took more meds...sugars no worse.......infact some very slight improvements.
back home.....sugars rising more again....constipations on and off still.......no foods help this....I really mean NO foods or treatments change the constipation...

so when I change my environment my sugars react ...not always to the good

so what I would like is a magic pill that affects my hormones and intestines! please :) so then effect my sugars to the better...................when I was pregnant my blood sugars were perfect.....very little effort from me needed to control them.....even though I did have every unpleasant side effect of the circumstances.......always sick etc.........my dr at the time said it did my diabetes so much good that he told me off the record to stay pregnant for the next 20 years!!

so what to do......thoughts......crazy or otherwise I'm all ears!

Impossible to know really. In my case because I have very strict dietary control I notice changes in my insulin sensitivity due to what foods I take in for example; when a large proportion of my fats were coming from sat fat I started getting highs because my sensitivity to basal insulin was decreased, reverting back to mostly unsaturated saw me back to normal, also when I eat a larger proportion of carbs during the day I need a larger basal as my resistance seems to go up in general.

Perhaps it came down to what/how much you ate while you were with your family. It could also be due to how you felt in general, less or more stress etc.

Dumb question but when you visit your family do a lot of the meals, snacks and your exercise pattern not change? That's pretty typical for me if spend time visiting someone else's house.

You really ought to talk to your GP about constipation, he should really evaluate whats causing it and if necessary go to a gastro.. He should perhaps prescribe laxido or movicol.

I had severe blockages requiring horrible treatment and even being so bad I was stuck in the bathroom having paramedics giving me morphine to get me to hospital.. Gross.....!!

My stomach doesn't like jelly babies. Also more fat (full fat milk and single cream) and liquids has helped.
The other thing that helps is to make sure I eat enough food of some description. Can be as little as an apple or a single piece of ryvita with butter. I'm not a big eater, to be honest I wouldn't eat somedays if I could get away with it... But I have always known that I need to eat so try to find something to eat....Not because of a disorder, but just because I dont snack on anything processed really and certainly now back in England I feel as if I'm too busy to eat... So you do need to speak to your gp ref constipation...

Also for me, my bowels affected my blood levels.. I could tell when my stomach wasn't working as they would shoot up high before the blockages occurred. My problems have completely gone now.

Have you had this problem for a while, can you identify any cause to it?

I think I may be more relaxed as im not doing everything on my own. Have had stresses present for some time and 18 months ago a massive life changing stress. A lot of adjustments to make. I lived with the flight or fright response present pretty much all the time for years because of my personal situation. Ive no doubt its effected my bloods but even the smallest thing like catching up with an old friend on the phone can make my sugars spike.
I have tried different ways of relaxing this response and last year took a course on EFT....it did help a bit....but I am so tired with such awful brain fog its hard to keep up with anything
Any suggestions always welcome
Thanks

Oh and gastro was apparently consulted about me going onto creon but ive not heard anything for ages, chasing up seems a waste of time as no body seems to know anything
I was told the creon was there to help with too many visits to the bathroom and that I need it after having stool test.......but rarely is that my problem
