Erm

Sounds fair enough. There is nothing worse than the one and only glucose meter going on the blink, especially say on a public holiday !! In Australia, chemists are giving this brand of meter away as a promotion, with 10 free strips!!
I've got all of my meters for free and and so as the strips and insulin and everything else which is needed

Well done. In Australia we have to pay for our strips and sometimes for our meters ( lots of promotions with free meters as the various makers vie for market position).
Under the National Diabetes Supply Scheme (NDSS) the costs of strips, needles, syringes and pump supplies are subsidised ( test strips on the chemist shelves are about AUD 40 per 100, but AUD 15, or less with a pension card, on NDSS).
I guess it depends on what health system one has. At least UK and Australia has decent health systems compared to the USA.

A GP would have to be a real so and so, or ignorant or both to refuse a T1D the paperwork or whatever to obtain a glucose metter and strips. If it is true that a GP did such a thing, report the reprobate to the GMC !!

A UK GP might say no to this meter as it more expensive and might not be on their list of approved meters for T1D.

I am looking forwards to the free Contour Next meter arriving this week, as it has a shed load of features that my Freedom Lite does not, one of which I get rid of another usb cable.

I have got the Contour Next strips organised with MediAdvisor so good to go when It arrives, I will get the first lot free as my PBS safety net does not run out till the 31st, then I will be charged $1.30 per 100 strips till I ring the bell again. :D
