I don't use them or eat foods with them. This includes the other plant sugars like agave, monkfruit, coconut....
I'm rather have small amounts of the real stuff I've been using all my life.

Hiya!

I use erythritol & have had no problems with it, not that I use it by the cart load. My daily use is in my one cup of coffee. I have tried others but find they have an aftertaste, in coffee & things I've made. As for what it can link to, just breathing our air can be linked to nasties, you're not going to be eating loads of it, so IMHO, it's a worry wasted. Also, another reason why you wouldn't want to have loads of them, they can have a laxative effect.

I don't use them at all. While stressing that we are all different, in my case going very low carb enhanced my taste perception to such a degree that I would now find any added sweetness, including sugar, far too sweet. In my book, that's a huge plus. It didn't take long for this to happen and has taken a whole level of taste "need" right out of my life.

I use erythritol and have done since I started keto and low carb lifestyle 4-5 years ago. It helped with the transition. I try and use less than I did and have it in my mid morning coffee and if I’m baking low carb cake etc. There hasn’t been any reliable research that links erythritol to cancer so I’ll carry on using it until told otherwise. In the beginning I used xylitol and then discovered this spiked my BG.

I use stevia. Sweeteners have not been shown to cause stroke and cardiac events.

A lot of research as reported (particularly on the internet) talks about X being associated with Y. This does not mean that X causes Y.

This article is pretty good on the failings of pop/junk science and the media.

When initially diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2003, sweeteners helped me to kick my sweet tooth habits, but I realised that eating sweetened foods reinforced my desire to round off meals with something sweet. I decided to steer clear.

In time, my palate changed and foods I once regarded as savoury, like onions for instance, now taste sweet. I have erythritol and stevia in my cupboard, but I seldom use sweeteners these days
