I am 53 type 2 diabetic for 20 years. I WAS grosly over weight sugar and health out of control, on insulin 4 times a day, I felt so Ill, tired, bloated, dizzy, constantly picking up infections, skin problems, the list goes on. My doc asked if I would try something new called Exenatide inject twice a day. The result has changed my life, I have lost 7stone in weight, my blood sugars are normal, I look and feel fantastic, after 1 year on this drug my doctor has just presented it at a medical conference with great results. I had to share this with you any questions, contact me.

Is this a basal insulin ? Do you know exactly why it is better ? I mean, do you feel better because you exercised more and lost weight or was that down to having the energy to do it from the different medication ? Thanks

I didn't really have to exercise, for the first few months the drug made me feel sick if I ate anything fatty or oily, I also only want smaller portions and never feel hungry. The drug is based on venom from a lizard who's body shuts down as it only eats 4 times a year then the venom kicks its body back into action when it needs to eat... So the drug has started my pancreas producing enough insulin again to cope. It's fascinatin and fantastic. Look up Byetta Exenatide or the heeli (gali) lizzard

Looks really interesting. Only problem for me would be additional cost. Seems like for you it was a necessity but I do OK with the twice daily basal insulin. I'm not sure on what grounds I could ask to try it. Glad it's sorted you out though !

I don't take any other drugs now, I live in England and here diabetics do not pay for medications so I guess I'm lucky. You could mention it to your GP if you are suitable he will be able to tell you, good luck and stay well.
