Have you guys experienced blood sugar go higher after exercises?

I used to know that exercise can improve your insulin sensitivity and reduce blood sugar level, but in my case, my post dinner was 6.7 and I went to exercise 30 mins , my blood sugar went up to 8.2 even took a rest for an hour. It still remained 8.2

In that case. Do I still keep on my exercise?

It would be very grateful that anyone can give me some advices.

Sounds like your liver dumping glucose in your blood stream to give you a boost (!) when you start to exercise.

I get that and others have reported it also.

In my case I am often in ketosis and using ketones for energy, so there is no demand for extra glucose.
I would accept it, perhaps reduce your carbohydrate intake a bit and extend your exercise for a bit.
I wouldn't give up exercise because as you say that does a lot of good things for you.

Any kind of stress, emotional or physical will result in the release of certain hormones. Adrenaline and cortisol I believe are the main culprits. These hormones signal the liver to release some of its stored glucose to give an energy boost. It's neither good or bad, just your body doing what was designed to do.
The glucose released is simply being moved out of storage where you can't see it, in to your blood stream where you can see it and more importantly use it.
The exercise should increase your fitness and help you burn off the stored glucose so definitely worth doing.

When I am cycling I tend to drop so have to keep up with carbs, jelly babies, cereal bars and a sugary drink do me.

When I play footy it's the opposite, I can start a game at say 7 and be 12-13 after Iv played but it drops back down to normal within about an hour.

I don't tend to take any extra insulin as you find you'd end up having a hypo in no time

No take any meds just diatary managed.

fasting and post workout glucose are always out of control. but 3 post meal readings are in the range 6-7. whereas fasting shoot to 7-8.

im thinner and intake less and regular active more than the time when i was diagnosed. but seems the glucose control is getting more worse. whats wrong with it

im not in ketosis . but i‘ve already avoided carbs .veggie and meat are my friends .

but i suffer anxiety disorder and panic attach. it comes really frequently recently. Does it a matter to
My readings?

I think this is normal, I also spike during exercise, I’m usually back in range within an hour or so. Exercise is awesome!

Hi there

I think it is possible that the anxiety could impact your blood levels as it's a natural fight or flight response that your body gets itself ready

https://www.diabetes.co.uk/stress-and-blood-glucose-levels.html

I did also find an article saying it can lower in some people

https://www.healthline.com/health/diabetes/with-anxiety#research

If I do an Aerobic type exercise (a HITT class for example) My levels shot up, but drop back down just as quickly. I I'm walking long distances this tends to lower my BG's

Hi and just wondered why you think its worse? If you are going on spot checks of blood glucose after meals or exercise be aware that over the average things should get better if you are type 2/insulin resistant.
So I wouldn't over react to the spike caused by short bursts of exercise or resistance work but if you're looking at your glucose 4 hours after food and it hasn't come back to baseline 4-7 then its your diet that may need changing.
Otherwise look at your HBA1c for a good mean average of all your blood sugars for 12 weeks.

Have to agree with the majority here , exercise can raise blood sugar, I’ve been type 1 for 40 + years and have been active all my life , I was told that when excoriating it’s the type of exercise anaerobic or aerobic and also what your blood sugar is before your exercise starts that can affect you, I do remember when I was first diagnosed they wanted me to experience a hypo so they tested my blood sugar and sent me to the gym for an hour , I worked my bum off and came back and hey presto my blood sugar had gone up lol, exercise is a funny animal , all I can suggest is take regular blood sugar tests and you will eventually find what works for your body,

You just made me remember my 40 years ago diagnosis as a kid where they induced a hypo. I am a pretty sure they don't do this now! Also practised injecting into an orange for some reason (the orange did not suffer a hypo).

Finally got round to posting screen shots.BG Exercise Peak.jpg Screenshot_2021-04-14-22-23-44-33_1f282d79cc470271d24365448b52b737.jpg Screenshot_2021-04-06-23-16-45-50_1f282d79cc470271d24365448b52b737.jpg
Hope this works with clickable thumbnails!
The first two screenshots are me exercising on my bike after coffee+cream+butter.
The third is (IIRC) a gentle walk.

So vigorous exercise dumps glucose in my bloodstream and the exercise doesn't seem to clear the glucose.
I suppose that is not surprising if I am running on ketones, but it does raise the question of where spare carbs go when you are exercising in ketosis.
Are they burned up (eventually) or does the eventual insulin push them straight back into fat/the liver?
