My eye screening is always due around this time of year and last year I had a horrible headache for hours due to the light sensitivity.

I’ve just come back from this year’s and due to the timing it was dark when I came out. Things are a bit blurry as usual but no headache so far. I’m home in a nice dimly lit room so should be okay.

I’m gonna make a note to request a late appointment going forward. Certainly glad this year was better than last I really wasn’t looking forward to it.

Unfortunately, I don't have a choice about timing for my retina-screening but I certainly feel better if it is on an overcast day compared to a sunny day.
I find sunglasses make a huge difference. I even wear them indoors (despite feeling stupid) for an hour or so afterwards to reduce the glare due to my dilated pupils.

My eye doctor gives me wraparound disposable plastic sunglasses to wear and take home. Cheap and nasty, but they work. (My wife drives me home in any case.)

been having these screenings twice a year for the last 28 years -- always take my sunglasses !! :)

Due to having Uvietis I had the dilation drops regularly and always found that my eyes were better at night. I used to put them in when I got to work and put my sun glasses on - although for the first couple of hours I couldn’t see the computer screen too well - likened it to looking through a puddle that had just had a stone thrown into it!

I also had a late afternoon appointment this time, and it most certainly was preferable light-wise for my eyes, which are pretty light sensitive at the best of times! Think I'll try to edge it to after the clock change (as I've always had mine in October Half Term) if it's possible. I go to a very accommodating optician whose staff are aware of my job and who don't sigh heavily at me (as the doctor's receptionists so often do) when I stress it's very difficult to get out of work and please can I have an early or late appointment on a weekday.
