which one should i trust
ben to hospital for screen test
benn to options for a eye test
hospital eye test
they never tell me the results
option called me back the second/time
for a better test
to make sure i have no probs
which one shoul i go to in future

Definitely keep your hospital appointments. They check for retinopathy by taking photos of the back of your eyes. It can change really quickly as well, I had some retinopathy they thought was fine three months later I could not see out of my left eye. I had an operation on it and although its a lot better some of my vision is blurred and distorted. As soon as the operation was over I had laser on the other eye as they could see it was also advanced. I could not see out of that eye shortly after and again had surgery. I thought these things happened to older people ( I am 29) but the specialists say you are at risk from having advanced retinopathy about 20yrs after suffering from diabetes.

I am sorry you have been so unfortunate with your eyes, it must be a scary thing to be happening.

It is, however, true that if you can manage to keep your blood sugars as close to 'normal' levels as possible the risks of retinopathy as well as other complications are enormously reduced. Cazgemuk, over your twenty years of diabetes, have you had problems with control? If so, have you managed to get a handle on it now? If you have had good control all those years, you must be so gutted to have this happen to you.

Sorry, I don't mean to sound preachy or any such thing, I just want to be able to help. And I know how hard it can be to walk the straight and narrow target for blood sugars, especially as you are growing up.
 
I have both hospital retinopathy annually and sometimes optician (Boots) as well. The hospital always writes to me within a day or so afterwards and says whether they have found any problem. If the hospital don't communicate with you I would complain; you have a right to any outcome. The hospital uses eye drops to open the pupil which shows more. The optician doesn't use drops so isn't quite as good, although when they show me the image it looks pretty detailed

the optician said my cataracts are nothing worry about
im just thinking will they get worse

As far as I am aware, cataracts are not related to diabetes, so whether they get worse or not will not be affected by it. At least nowadays, they can be operated on so there is prospect of improving things. Good luck. :)
