Hi, I’m new here but wanted some advise..
I’m 47 quite over weight have pcos and reactive hypoglycaemia. Just after new year I caught that flu bug to which my reactive hypoglycaemia came back with avengence maybe because I didn’t hardly eat for around 2weeks..after this I took it upon myself to low carb again in the hole to stop the attacks and lose weight well I’ve found the attacks got more and more severe until around 2weeks ago they’re almost constant. I’ve just found this forum about false hypos and wondered if that’s what’s going on? I hardly eat when I do it’s with as little carb as possible and no sugar whatsoever ever is this my problem.? I’d so how do I stop them.? I’ve felt incredibly poorly for a few weeks now but I’m scared to do anything food wise. My family are beginning to think I’m have some kind of anxiety or panic but I don’t believe it is..
Any advise in what to do/eat would be fantastic Thankyou x

The only way to verify if they are or are not false hypos is to do a blood test at the time and see I'm afraid.

Hi,
Thankyou I have done the b/g test the doctor said to buy a kit and my level was 5.5 which is ok isn’t it.? It’s just the symptoms aren’t going away.!!

Oh I forgot to say I’ve just eaten a rich tea biscuit to see if it helps..

5.5 is perfectly fine and is certainly not an actual hypo. False hypos normally tend to occur if your blood sugar level has been high for a long time previously afaik, but I must admit I don't know anything about reactive hypoglycemia so I can't really help.

The endo said I would never bet the high number as I only take a reading when I feel bad

If your symptoms does not go away by eating carbs then you do not have a hypo. Eating always help me when I get low.

A false hypo can be if you blood sugar crash from hyperglycemia. Like if you get 14 mmol after eating and it fall rapid to like 6 mmol, then you can feel a little bit off. But if you have a server hypo it’s hard to miss, and it always help to get something to eat.

Have you been diagnosed?
