Fasting For Type 2's

It sounds like the first couple of days are the hardest, then there's a burst of energy which I assume is ketosis. How long patients fast initially is unknown. How intermittent fasting is done is also unknown. It likely varies. [Edit: Here's another comment from Dr. Fung... "Specific regimens are generally individualized for patients. Obviously some will need more and others less. People on medications need to be extra careful about monitoring. A commonly used regimen would be 24-36 hours of fasting 2-3 times per week. A general multivitamin can be taken if you are worried about micronutrient deficiency. For cramping, we often supplement magnesium specifically, not calcium or potassium. Epsom salt baths are often useful for cramps."]</p><p></p><p>I suppose another option would be to go back and read the studies he references in his videos beginning in the mid-60's.</p><p></p><p>We have a physicians who specialize in weight loss in our community. Perhaps they would be willing to provide medical supervision for patients who wish to try fasting.
