Faulty Tresiba vial

Do you mean a vial or a cartridge?
Cartridges go in insulin pens whereas vials need a syringe to extract the insulin.

I can't say I have ever had problems with either.
Are you sure the insulin is coming out of the side rather than (assuming you meant pen cartridge), the needle is not screwed on correctly so the insulin is dribbling down the side ?

Many years ago I had a cartridge do that (whilst I was at work with no spares to hand ...), when I looked it did have a crack down the side of the cartridge, so check for that. if it is a crack in a cartridge then you'll just need to ditch the cartridge, as it just wont work properly.
If its a vial and is leaking well it'll need replacing as well

A cracked one yes - whole packet had been dropped I think so I binned them.
