Favourite Christmas songs

Deck the halls with bows of holly ... My sister and I would sing and add an extra la , when I hear it I have happy memories.

Has to be Fairytale of New York by the Pogues and Kirsty MacColl, close second is When a Child is Born by Johnny Mathis.

Mine's in a Christmas Eve carol. Silent Night. Prefer it in German and has that wee bit extra meaning with the 100th anniversary of WW1. Very numbing carol

That's just been on the telly, great video and song :)
Noblehead..it is a fab Xmas tune but Chris Rea ain't even in it, it has some has beens around a caravan I'm sure as I saw the vid the other week. Shame Chris isn't here now, that gruffly voice was unique and I can't think of any of his tunes I didn't like

Eartha Kitt singing Santa Baby. I think she was a very underated singer. She could have sung the Tube map and made it sound sexy with that raspy voice.

Sheesh don't do that !!! Reading that, I thought you meant he'd passed on. Glad to google and find he hadn't :)

One of my all time fave singers and have all his stuff

No worries :)

I've met Chris and his music just sends me :) Like Neil Young more but the ONLY thing that annoys me is Rea's greatest hits collections (7 of them) do not feature the original recordings :)

Best Mike

Jona Lewie.... Stop the Cavalry , heard this on the radio this morning, good to hear it again :)

Chris is still alive, he did have an awful time with pancreatic cancer but as far as I'm aware he is still around, my favourite by him is Fool if you think it's over, Elkie Brooks did a great version of the song.

Original band aid song does it for me .
All the 80's singers from my youth too .:)

If in church - then it is the Once in royal davids city for me .
Always gets me misty eyed - never fails .
Singing about the birth of our Lord .

Prefer the original over the latest version, I hardly know any of them in the video, must be getting old
