Red lumps after I remove unexplained high readings, with Omnipod profuse bleeding on removal of several pods. Since October doing much more exercise have managed to reduce lows after exercise. But cannot explain highs unless pumps faulty. Have sometimes injected additional insulin with result.
Why don’t pumps inform me if not working properly.
Any advice would be helpful

I know my colleague, @himtoo is an Omnipod user, but he's not online right now. Hopefully he'll comment when he's next online.

why can't everyone get on........
hi @Heathero sorry to hear you are having issues........ have you spoken to the omnipod customer service people......... I have always found them to be helpful when i ring.

i get a bit of blood occasionally upon removing a pod -- but not regularly.
I also have a small red lump at cannula injection site but as I understand it , this is pretty normal as the skin is reacting to a foreign object being imbedded for 3 days.

I don't use the omnipod, but in general, pumps can only alert you to problems within the pump body itself, or a blockage in the tubing (which omnipods don't have, so that's clearly not your problem). If the problem is within your body (bleeding, irritation, infection or some other issue near the site) the pump cannot detect that.

If you have issues with unexplained highs, try bolusing with a pen/syringe and if you don't come down then consider a pump change.

Thanks for responses have bolused with pen before and did help. Last night did fasting was 4.6 4.1 , 5.7 then 12.3 at 8am bolused 3.9 then 9.8 at 9 am and 7.6 at 10.30 unsure if went Hypo hence sudden high but unsure. BMs so unpredictable.
Thanks for info re pump warnings. Will re do fast tonight reduce Basel early hours to see if spike due to Hypo. Which I may have slept through.

Well reset reduced Basel early hours but now whole morning running high . Have increased later.
Can anyone tell me how much per hour initially it is advised to increase / decrease by. Is .5 too much?

Hi @Heathero I can only tell you what I do when adjusting Basal, it depends how much I need to adjust by, then I make the adjustment 2 hrs before its needed. Normally by 0.1 units. I vary between 0.4 and 1.0 unit per hour with 20 units over 24 hrs. So raising mine by 0.5 would have large impact.

Thank you my needs seem to be bit higher, but advice helpful seem to be better this pm now still need to work on am, will see how tomorrow goes, had reduced too much for too long so have reset again. Now 22.85 per day. Varies from 0.5 to 1.5 per hour. But reduced via temporary Basel when exercising 1-2 hrs 5-6 days a week.
