Hi @elliesmum ,

Welcome to the forums! You've come to a great place for support, we're good listeners.

I don't know how much direct help I can offer with hypo awareness but I do know that diabetes UK has a free to access online course that may help people in your situation.

Have a look at this page ......
http://www.diabetes.co.uk/hypo-unawareness.html

........and click on the link about half way down.

Good luck with that, and ask about anything that troubles you, there's often somebody around that can offer advice.

Was it your GP's diabetes nurse that you spoke to on the phone or someone at the hospital?

High tax for low returns, judgemental people and shopping
Thank you
Welcome! I have been type 1 for 25 years and have had a similar frustration and was confused by the views of diabetic specialist nurses at GP more so than hospital. I too have been recommend for a pump but found that funding in different areas causes difference and that there is almost a script of things to say to get one, so the person you spoke to may be "screening" your answers. Stick in there and I'm sure more advice will follow on this tread.

People that can't listen to other people's opinions.
People that can't say sorry.
Hi @elliesmum

Welcome.

My first question to you would be-would you want a pump?

Unsure whether this was at your GP Practice or at hospital with nurse? I know some CCG's (mine) , T1's are now being recommended to be cared for by GPs unless there is a need for hospital consultants etc. However, did the nurse suggest any changes etc to ward off hypo's or make an appt to follow you up further?

It is frustrating when this happens. Do you keep an exact log of exercising/ blood levels etc? Did she suggest a trial of a libre to help?

I've only really had exceptional caring nurses. They may not know everything but they know how OTT I am and have taken time to understand me. I do appreciate your having felt fed up.. I have had cancer nurses that made me feel **** so although not diabetes ones I do inderstand how low and fed up it can make you feel.....

Hi @elliesmum

You fit the Nice criteria for a insulin pump being hypo unaware, maybe ask if you can see a diabetes consultant and discuss your hypo unawareness with them, they'll either work with you to help restore your awareness or failing that put your name forward for pump funding.

Best wishes and good luck.
