I've been type 1 for 11 years and recently I've just felt so low.
I've had 2 hospital admissions in the last month, one for a bad hypo and one for DKA... I'm stressed out with uni, personal stuff, weight gain and just want to feel normal!!!!
How does anyone else cope when they feel ******? I just want a hugeeeeeee binge on **** food and get very drunk but I know that will only make things worse :(

Come on Miss, 1 day at a time. Break your task up into small targets/goals. We all feel like this occasionally but it passes. Really hope you fell better soon ! Take care ! Mo

Everyone has rough days. A good cry helps, stamp your feet and throw a wobbly. Shake it out!

Then smile, move onwards and upwards :)

I've been type 1 for 35 years now and it's bloody hard work. I think it's a bit like having someone I really don't like constantly sitting next to me, giving me a nudge every now and then to remind me they are still there. Sometimes I want to tell them to just p**s right off, but the reality is when you do that, they just prod a bit harder. It's frustrating isn't it? I quite enjoy sticking my head in the sand too, and I don't think that's too bad every now and again - it keeps me sane. Life's still great, even with diabetes! My advice is to set yourself some simple and achievable targets. This year my target is to eat healthier, drink less alcohol and do more exercise. I think improved control will flow from that and it makes me feel like I'm setting similar targets to non-diabetics. It is worth noting I will be sticking my head in the sand (very deep) on Saturday and I will be having a curry with lots of wine!

Like Katy, I've been diabetic for 33 years. And yes it does get you down from time to time. But scream, shout and let it all out (just like Wil I am and Britney). It should make you feel a bit better. As has been said take it a small step at a time. And as long as you keep your HBA1C, in check and try to keep your blood sugars in range, you will be fine. Oh and by the way you are NORMAL.

You all make it sound so easy! In 11 years I've never had a proper consultant, not done DAFNE and had any kind of proper support until now so I'm hoping my new consultant will help me feel a bit better!!
I don't know any other diabetics so I guess this is my only place to rant and have someone understand me!

Hey, ranting is cool, we all do the odd rant. It's not easy though ! Diabetes is 24/7 ! That's why we're "special" ;-)

Mo certainly is "special" ;)

There is almost always someone here to rant to, celebrate with, talk about the virtues of sugar free jelly....

That's why we keep coming back!

You're still some big T1 fraud then ;)

I'm on to you special Mo!

Enjoy it while it lasts :)

Sticking your head in the sand is all well and good but you have to watch nobody comes and gives you a kick up the bum :wideyed:

Easy!!!! No it's never ever easy for any of us and unfortunately it doesn't get easier the more you do it. But you have 2 choices..Laugh or cry. Sometimes crying is a good thing but it can't win the whole time. So there's only 1 thing left and that's laugh about it. Can't f.....g change it so onwards and upwards is the only thing left. :)

Very well said, I couldn't agree more! Just keep trying and smiling.

We all feel like that at times, I have been diabetic for 35 years and have had more than the odd bad day. I have done the drink to forget only thing is i'm still a diabetic when I sober up!! The way that I look at it is you have to enjoy the good days because you no that being a diabetic that there is going to be some bad days.
