Fed up!

horrible disgusting filthy people and loads more.
Anyone had a pancreas transplant?
Cos I want rid of this driving illness?

Nope. But you do realise that just because you have a new pancreas, doesn't mean you won't be type 1 anymore. Your immune system could attack the new pancreas. Or your body could just reject it. And they don't last forever. You'll need a new one every 10 years or so.

Even if it does work you are still on medication for life aren't you? If I'm getting cured, I want a full cure haha. ;)
 
True but I'd do anything to be off injections again in a rare kind type 1 so I was just on tablets now I'm on insulin and tablets.
I'd do anything to be off injections again xx

Pump is probably the closest you will get to having a new pancreas....
Pancreas transplant isn't all it seems, like others have said...even doctors your body could reject it....and then it's essentially a waste!

Ah I think ask any type 1 and deep down we feel the same, even today my mum said she wished she could give me a holiday from my type 1, even 2 days would be nice.. But the stark reality is that it's not going anywhere so keep it in check and stay in control, so it doesn't take over your life.

What type of type 1 are you ? Also what is getting to you ? A problem shared is a problem halved so let us know and hopefully we can be more supportive ? ;)

Believe it or not but diabetes can be a good illness to have because it makes people be more aware of the food that they are eating instead of just shovelling whatever we want in our mouth and not caring.

Multiple injections can be addressed with using twice daily insulin as a compromise or even getting an insulin pump. I was once asked by a consultant what was the worst thing for me being diabetic and I nearly said all these multiple injections but deep down they were not the worst thing as the jabs were over and done with in about 30 secs. What was more awful was dealing with the hypo feeling in public and how it took about 20mins to feel completely better but once I started testing bg levels a bit more, the hypos started to get a bit milder and now Ive got a pump.

'A rare kind' that's something I can empathise with !

Don't let it get to you, that's diabetes winning, it does get easier, have you spoken to your team about courses and support, they are there to help you, let us know what's getting to you and hopefully you can draw on the wealth of experience others have to offer. Above all else be kind to yourself and take each day as it comes, big hug ;)
 
Aw thank you for the advice I will mention it at my next appointment but I've had it nearly 9 years now and I still struggle with it even more so now I have anxiety bad one at that!
But it's like I wish you'd go away sort of thing
 
If you were just tabs to begin with you are a type two now requiring insulin. You don't become a type one just because you need insulin now. Apologies if I have missed something.

I think we all dream of getting rid of diabetes (whatever type) but realise there is no true replacement. Pancreas transplant are only usually given of also needing kidney transplant in the UK. There will be lots of testing and a very long waiting list. If successful and your body doesn't reject the organs you will be on medication for life and will likely need a review in ten years or so assuming you look after the new organs well.

Sometimes.we dream that the alternate will offer new and greener pastures but the reality is not always so.
Try and find out what type of diabetic you are (true diagnosis) you may be able o link in with someone who has the same/similar diagnosis!?
