Hi. Overall I think the website is very good but I'm very critical of the Patient information section, Diet, Activity & Sport. The eating advice in my opinion is out-dated and will actually make many T2s diabetes worse; not good! Fat and salt are not the problem but high blood sugar is (another part of the website correctly states this). Any carb is therefore a potential problem not just sugar. The advice to have carbs with every meal is bad advice other than to smooth carb intake and then to have low-GI carbs where possible. Many of the carb foods listed are high-GI i.e. use highly processed flour and not a good suggestion for diabetics. Even diet yogurt, baked beans etc may seem good but usually are high in added sugar.
The problem with much of the diet advice from the NHS for diabetics is based on very poor or non-existent science and it's essential that the NHS does use evidence-based information and NICE itself is very good in this respect. Whilst T1s can have more carbs than T2s in general because insulin can be increased to match the carbs and keep blood sugar low, this in turn can cause weight gain and insulin resistance.
Sorry to go on a bit ref dietary advice but the NHS must used evidence based medicine.
I'll try and spot areas that I think might be missing on the website and comment on these
