Feeling a bit out of place

Well I am surprised at the responses above. It is nice that you all think I have advice to offer but I just worry that my experience will become dated. I did not intend to leave and would have remained on the site socially.

Thank you for the responses above, it is clear that many of you wish me to stay around and continue to offer my experiences. I am humbled!

I think everyone at whatever stage has something to contribute - we all need a friendly ear, a kick up the bum or just someone to say, been there and it does get better. Glad you are going to stick around. xx

Well, I'd be very saddened if you decided to disappear. I have learned a lot from you and what you have to say is always rational and well thought through.

Whilst I hear what you say about your story becoming out of date; how out of date can (hopefully!) permanent become? The longer you and @Pipp and @paulins remain in your reversed states, the more credible the whole potential to reverse and stay reversed becomes, and gives hope to those at the beginning of their journeys.

I know my HbA1cs have been pretty low for a while, and I have increased my carbs a bit, but I just don't have the cojones to push the envelope as you routinely do, so I can't really take over your great message mantel.

@AndBreathe I had to look up "cojones" as I have never heard that term before.

Hi @Andrew Colvin and well done.

Has your GP confirmed that you are no longer diabetic? And if so what has he coded you as?

I ask as my last Hba1c was 31 mmol/mol down from 82 on diagnosis in December. The DN said that if next year's reading was of a similar non-diabetic order and that my fasting level was non-diabetic, then they would declare that I was "Diabetes resolved" and in effect I would be treated as never having been diabetic.

Good I thought, but the alternative is to be noted as "Diabetes in remission" in which case I would continue to have the retinopathy scans at the opticians on the NHS. This has its attractions too. Have you had the choice and if so which one did you plump for?

As to the big debate LCHF v NHS v ND I admit to being NHS balance diet follower. I was over weight at diagnosis and resolved to eat a 'normal' diet and see what happened.

Great to here your levels are nice & low.
You stick with us. Your journey can helpful to many.
I think the NHS instead of giving the gobbledegock they do, should signpost newbies to this site or the main site & they can join us from there if they wish, but after reading the main site they sure will join us. Most of the NHS Dr's & Dn's know about the site so why not just send them to it.
Hi Paul, just read your signature it appears your in the future with your diagnosed dates.
Neil

I should have said in my earlier post that I always value any contribution which includes those from gestational, steroid induced etc which may have gone into remission. You don't have to currently be suffering from the condition to let us know about new areas of research, articles etc as well as your own previous experience. In summary do stay around.

Hi @Andrew Colvin
Forget going , you have made great contributions to this place ...
Watching you succeed has been a great journey to,be part of ...I am really delighted for you ...
We don't all follow the same diet at all , and I know from past experience that people have left because they have not followed a certain diet ehich is a shame ...because there are many diet pathways and choices ...and people have their own health needs ...
So it would be sad if you were not around to share your experiences ..best wishes Kat

@Andrew Colvin
Do you have any thread particularly where you have described your journey. May be more of us can try it and learn and try to reverse diabetes.

You are a handful of examples of a reversal and I would be sad to see you go too. Its just the wealth of knowledge you can share with each one of us.

Please stay around, some of us need all the help and advice we can get. Special when ones nurse says, your type 2 and dont need a meter.

Right .. The Wife says DONT GO ... Would you dare to cross my wife .... I wouldn't ...:pompous: So best you hang around

@Andrew Colvin Don't go, I need your help.
My blood glucose monitor software that you so kindly allowed me to download and use.... Stopped working a while ago. I think after some upgrades from Apple. I think maybe they changed something on my applemac book.
I downloaded and reinstalled it, as it had lost all the data that I had input over the months.
But I still can't get it to save anything, once I've closed and reopened it, all the data has disappeared. It resets everytime I close it.
So you see you can't go because we need you :angelic:
Oh dear - sounds like the database folder is locked. We will need to do some debugging together. Ping me in a conversation

My GP practice likes to wait for 3 years (even for those that have bariatric surgery) and especially in my case to ensure I am not LADA which I understand but that doesn't change the fact that atm I feel like a fraud when there are so many on here struggling - I never struggled and at the point I had started testing I was experiencing "normal" values.

In my signature there is a link to a thread on my first 3 months and then there is another thread when I decided to start experimental with higher and higher levels of carbs. I have made several links to that one. Apart from that parts of my journey are splattered across many threads in aid of answering question

Yes, I have been 3 + years non diabetic BG. As I have other health conditions, getting old, and still have weight to lose, I am asking GP to continue diabetes reviews a while longer.
