Your words mean so much to me.its been one hell of a struggle to get this far.ive surprised myself.ive tried to eat more but whem I get it in my mouth I.cant swallow it.i.feel sick at the very thought of eating anything else except my 3 things that I'm eating at the moment..I'm quite ok at the moment and not taking steroids anymore but my blood sugar results are still over 10.
Jo, as you're beginning to see for yourself, our bodies like to work to routines of one sort or another, and our innards are very clever at maintaining our "business as usual" state, on a day-to-day basis. By that I mean if your numbers have been running high, your body is likely to have plenty of stores of sugars in your liver, which it can release, as required to keep you (and your bloods) running in their usual range.
It can take a while for those reserves to be reduced and for your body to allow your blood scores to come down a bit. Not everyone sees an immediate improvement when they make a change to their eating (foods or routines). I know when I was working to get my numbers down, I would run at a certain range, then apparently suddenly, I'd notch down a bit and establish a new, lower range, where I would again run for a little while. That could be well what's happening to you. Your body has got so used to surviving on so little for so long, it is likely extremely efficient in keeping you steady!
Give it time. If I recall correctly (and forgive me if I don't), when you first started testing your numbers were higher than they are now, by quite a bit? Stick with it. Concentrate on small steps. Striving for huge steps, and quickly could be overwhelming for you mentally or physically. Far better, I would have thought, to capitalise on the steady advances you are making.
I hope your appointment goes well today. Just listen to what they have to say, but make sure you have your say too. It's
your appointment, not a process they're going through.
Fingers crossed for you.
