Hi all
Looking for ideas on what to eat when I'm feeling a bit delicate in the tum. I feel a bit sick and the thought of eating my beloved bacon and eggs is repulsive right now, but I need something inside me as I'm on medication.

What do you suggest?

Thanks
Deb x

What do you fancy?

I'd just eat what I could face, but how about a little cream of chicken soup?

Robbity

PS If my tum's very unhappy I usually try my granny's cure: peppermint with warm water and a drop of stevia in place of the original sugar. I don't know if it's psycholgical but it helps me...

Anything not fatty i think. A bag of Doritos would be good right now

Jason Fung says if you don't feel hungry then don't eat.

Doritos = bad idea.

Nil by mouth ? What happened? Are you okay??

I'm fine - I meant I just feel so yucky that I'm not eating anything....I hate feeling sick x

I suggest very creamy scrambled eggs but that doesn't fit with the no fat wish. A good swig of cream is just as bad.

Or I'd just no eat at all. How bad would it be to have the medication without food? Or not have it?

Thank heavens for that. I thought you were suddenly in hospital. Had me worried there. x

Hi. I've been feeling yukky for last couple of days, and don't feel like eating. I've had cupasoup, - Banana for breakfast, - Latte, - water. Tummy now starting to feel better. Blood sugars have been good!

Like Totto, I was thinking scrambled eggs or even a poached egg if you can't face anything fatty.

Do you have any cooked meats, like a little chicken? Yoghurt?

I'm currently nil by mouth - promise no salty snacks will pass these lips!! X
It's not good to be unwell, it's even worse to go nil by mouth, food doesn't really matter but you need to keep your fluids up otherwise you could become dehydrated. Water is fine but don't gulp it, just take sips so it wets your mouth do this often, you are less likely to be sick because nothing is going into your stomach but it will keep you hydrated. Hope you feel better soon, I too hate that sickly feeling to the extent of being phobic. Early night and hot water bottle might be a good idea. Night

@liam - I'd never get away with your cure for my bg!! Lucky you!

@Totto - I need to have something in tum for anti-inflammatory meds for my sciatica. I'm holding off on taking them but pain will get a lot worse later....

Tea sounds good. Maybe I'll have some corned beef later if I can take it. Cold meats sound least greasy of all so I think appeal most!

I love low carb but it's not great when you have a bug!!

Thanks guys - lovely and helpful as usual xxx

I eat a couple of water biscuits or cream crackers when I am feeling sick. Then as I feel better some chicken soup.

But what ever you fancy even if it's one mouthful, it's better than nothing.

If I'm feeling sick I like ginger tea - just roughly chopped root ginger in hot water. It usually settles my stomach.

I had a normal cup of tea which helped. I can't do ginger tea - shame! X

I've had a couple of tum upsets since very low carbing.

Nowadays i try to drink plenty - herb teas, sambucol effervescent tabs in water, broth, water.

And i think chicken soup is, quite frankly, a miracle worker.

Easiest: drop a stock cube in boiling water
Easy: as above, plus crumbled chicken and left over veg whizzed up
Slight cop out: take a piece of chicken, cook it, with veg, whizz up in stock
Traditional: simmer chicken and bones until meat melts off. Remove bones, add veg and seasoning, until veg soft. Blizz to preferred texture.

Can add cream, herbs or spices, to any of the above. :)

I'm an egg drop soup kinda gal when I'm ill (though also when I'm not) - usually ginger, chilli & garlic.

Soup is a great idea. Before low carbing it would be chicken noodle soup, so nowadays it's just chicken .

Brun - loving your soup stages!! I've screen shot that and added it to my recipe file for safe keeping. Thank you.

Safi - I'll have a look at egg droppings soup. X

For something quick, how about a cup of hot Bovril? Hope you feel better soon
