Hi all

I'm just after some advice, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes last Tuesday. The hospital think I may have had this for a while.

Prior to diagnosis I had no symptoms at all and this was only picked up due to a routine visit to my opticians. At the hospital they were concerned about the feeling in my feet (not that I have noticed anything) and are sending me for a Podiatry appointment

I was given some medication and since my blood sugar levels have started to come down I am getting pins and needles and burning feeling in my feet and hands.

Is this normal to go from not having any symptoms to feeling a change within 1 week?

Hi,

Welcome to,the forum.

What meds where you given.?

Have you access to a meter monitoring your BG levels?

The issue with higher BG levels associated with diabetes for prolonged periods, is you can get used to them? So when you do return within lower parameter. It takes a little getting used to for some as the new "normal?"

Hi I was given Metformin, Gliclazide and Empagliflozin.

Yes I was given a meter to monitor my BG levels which have gone down from 23.5 to 9.6 over the last week

Hi,

Then I would hazard a guess, the drop to 9.6 area could be giving you the sense of a "false hypo?"
As you ajust to a normal level.. Think of it like a "divers decompression." Or even an alcaholic or substance user, going "cold turkey.?"

Yes, I had similar. All sorts of weird sensations.
BUT you are on 2 meds (the gliclazide and the flozin) that can cause real hypos if you go too low on carbs or food too soon or too fast. Keep checking with your meter and stay no lower than 6s if you can for a few weeks.
Remember this is a marathon not a sprint and there are no prizes for getting to hospital first

im similar cold feet to touch and can feel the cold, tingling and pretty sensitive and can be warm after a lot of walking mostly on soles and toes.

I have dropped by blood sugars alot over last 8 weeks and took a few supplements like r alpha lopoic b complexs and cartinine which got rid of the tingling and odd feelings.

Still a bit sensitive and left with pretty constantly cold feet but hoping that will clear up to as i get used to more stable blood sugar levels and i leave my 1000 a day cal diet im just about to finish.

It is worrying though, i have been podiatrist twice in few weeks for circulation and sensation tests and they say fine so it like whats going on. having flat feet not helping either. Hope it clears up as i feel good apart from that.
