I was diagnosed T2 in may, purely by accident I was messing around with someone’s glucose monitor and was shocked to get a reading of 21 mmol. After battling the Rottweiler receptionist at my surgery was finally seen and had a blood test and my HbA1c came back as 90! Was prescribed metformin and gliclazide, but I declined to take the gliclazide. Been very strict and the last ten days my bloods have ranged from 5.5 - 8 depending on time of day. Anyway I wasn’t expecting it, but I went to see my diabetic nurse today and she sprung another HbA1c blood test on me. I’m just hoping and praying I’ve done enough to get it below 90! She thinks it will be in the 70 range from looking at my bloods and my target is 58. Knowing it’s going in the right direction will be a huge boost to me after trying so hard.

Hi @Christafur and well done!
I think the initial shock puts many of us into survival mode and we have a huge need to get the numbers down.
After a while it's easy to become complacent and slide off track so be aware of this too.
I had a couple of times where I put my health on the back boiler due to family crisis but I found this site to be my rock, and have been in remission for almost three years now, and you can do this too ... just stick around and never be afraid to ask questions. So pleased for you!
