Morning all, feeling very sick this morning. On 2 x 500 SR metformin for two weeks. Have been fine, until this morning. Feel very sick and the thought of food makes me feel worse. Anyone else experienced the same?

Sorry to hear you are feeling so unwell. I have been taking Metformin for 6 weeks which was gradually increased to 1000mg twice daily. I had a bit of nausea some days but not as bad as you have. I hope it settles for you. My practice nurse suggested to me when I was building my dose up that if I had a reaction to an increase I could take it back down again and try to increase again in about a week. If it doesn't settle for you maybe it would be worth taking advice from your GP or nurse about the best course of action.

I hope you feel better soon.

Hi. Metformin does suppress the appetite and for some people it leaves a metallic taste when eating; I had that for 6 months! If your sickness continues do ask for Metformin SR, the Slow release version, which I have always had. It's much kinder on the stomach but does still suppress the appetite etc
