Feeling Sick

I only started monitoring my BG 5 days ago. My first reading was 9.7 after a Wheatabix b/fast. I had been reading about low carbs so cut them out best I could. I have averaged 6.1 per day since with a low of 5.2.

Last night I felt a little sick and struggled with a late dinner of fish & salad. This morning I awoke with a nasty headache and a reading of 6.4 and have felt sickish all day (since b/fast). I ate lunch and dinner but didn't really want to. My after diner reading was 5.9.

An hour ago I ate half an apple and a glass of diet coke (for cafeine) instead of water and one or both seems to have relieved the sicky feeling. Just wondered whether anyone has had this problem and any advice appreciated.

John.

It could be your body getting used to the reduction in carbs. Have things now improved? Are you due another HbA1c soon? If you continue to have problems you might want to talk to your Healthcare Professional.

How much water do you drink? It's not unusual to have a headache at the beginning of low-carbing, but drinking 2 litres of water a day keeps you well hydrated and usually stops the headaches.

How are you feeling now?

Also, when your blood sugars first start to come down they can feel a bit like a hypo, even though they actually are not, because you are unused to normal BS levels.
