Hi Aqua! How long after being diagnosed with type two diabetes do you have to wait for eye checks and feet checks please
Thank you so much for your reply. I was told on the 23rd of dec just by phone by a doctor then he said we can’t put you on medication yet as my kidney function is to low so I’m on the controlled diet for three months then more tests to see where things are at with my level.Hi Aqua!
I was officially diagnosed at the beginning of December (though I use my first blood test in November as the real date), and my foot & eye appointment is taking place at the end of February, so 10-12 weeks (ish).
I'm in Stockton-on-Tees (North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Trust), but can imagine it might be slower in some trusts. My nurse doesn't do feet tests, I asked, everything is done at a clinic.
Hope you get a good version of the Desmond course. Although they are all meant to cover the same subject matter (reading from a book) sometimes it's the interaction and presentation that makes a difference. Mine was split over two half days. The first session not so good, the second brilliant, though I knew most of what they covered anyway from pre-reading on here and other Diabetes support groups.
Yes I was told on the phone as well, then had to wait 3 weeks before I could meet and talk to my Diabetes Nurse. I'm trying to control mine initially through diet & exercise and will find if that is working in March.Thank you so much for your reply. Thank you and the same with you it’s good to know there is someone there to chat to we both sound like we were told almost at the same time , at first I was devastated but the more I read about it the calmer I’m feeling although still worried about the long term. Keep well always happy to chat xYes I was told on the phone as well, then had to wait 3 weeks before I could meet and talk to my Diabetes Nurse.
