Feet and Leg pain

I have type 2 diabetes and for the last couple of years the pain in my feet is getting worse and, very worryingly, is now in my legs and creeping upwards. I have been prescribed pain killers which, frankly, don't work completely.
Does anyone have any suggestions for combatting this pain, apart from painkillers?

Ask the gp for a hospital referral. Painkillers.. Depending on qty and type arent a good longterm choice.. You need to have a referral to get a diagnosis and better help.

I have assumed from your posting that you havent had a specialist referral? If you have, then you need further help.

Hi
I too have the leg and feet pain and get the most awful cramp as well. My doc prescribed Dufloxetine and Gabapentin. I was previously on Co-codamol pain killers which like you did nothing. Since being on new medication the legs have been much better.
Hope this helps

Neuropathy and other diabetic complications can start at a bg of 7.8 mmol/L (140 mg/dl) so it is important to keep your bg below that at all times. Fortunately, nerves can heal and the damage can be reversed. This link should tell you all you need to know about Neuropathy, how to stop it and how long it might take for the nerves to heal.
