:D Hopefully we all still have them , but over the years both my feet from just below the ankle have a mottled affect ( brown ) as if covered with freckles & bluish tinge , I've seen the doctors & specialists & they put it down to age ( only 57 ) & neuropathy , plus the toes on my left foot are numb now , they always feel as if my socks are in between them making them highly uncomfortable ! Just wondered if anyone else had similar problems ?
Thanks !

One cause of generalised increased skin pigmentation is diabetes and many GP's miss this as a cause. They missed it on my feet and ankles for several years until my cardiologist noticed it while checking pulse in my feet. At the time I was merely classed as pre-diabetic and offered absolutely no advice whatsoever!
The condition termed Diabetic Dermopathy occurs most frequently on the shins, lower legs and feet. They may have the appearance of small redish-brown motley scars. Their appearance may precede the diagnosis of diabetes by several years, but actual cause of diabetic dermopathy is not well understood; although it does not cause any particular problem or pose any particular health threat if kept in check.
To keep this under control a tight or tighter control of blood glucose is the way ahead. If left to become widespread, the skin might break down and you'll end up with lesions and eventually ulceration that will be hard to shift.

Whilst what has been posted previously is correct, it is a fact that a blueish tinge to the skin can indicate circulatory problems. This can be from many causes, Neuropathy being just one. You say that your toes are now numb. Are you being treated for the Neuropathy ? It sounds very much that it is progressing and may need further treatment. I take it there has been no spinal injuries.

It is my opinion that you should get a second opinion about this from another Specialist. I know from personal experience with a friend who ignored such signs that his outcome was not good as he ended up having first his foot, then his lower leg amputated. All because a GP and a so called Specialist had missed the warning signs. Get it checked out again.

Please discuss this fully with a Specialist and make sure you get a proper diagnosis and treatment.

I Must thank all who have answered my plea , I have taken all on board & I am due my next foot check 3rd August & will definately bring it to their attention , one asked if I'd had a spinal injury - in fact yes I had around 30 yrs ago where upon discs 3-5-7 had been damaged but I was lucky then to heal very fast , but my spine still causes problems to this date particularly to my lower back & legs but hey I'm thankful for small mercies you have to be positive , I also have circulation problems to my feet so I mare or less expected problems but like everything else I 'm permenently hot .
