hi there, aint been on this site for ages.My daughter is type 1 and has a cut on her foot (its more of a slit)and its about an inch long with loads of dry skin around it.ive booked her into the gp but cant see her for 2 weeks, should i be worried and demand to have her seen sooner?dont know what to do for the best, she's been diaganosed for 18 months but im still learning and need a little advice. thanks

hi there, yes they do but they give me a sheet of paper with real emergencys on and ask if she has any of the following,if not then they say its not an emergency.

I think she should be seen sooner, does your GP do emergency appointments?

Well I would say that a diabetic with a cut on the foot needs to be seen asap in case infection gets into the cut. What about a casualty dept.is there one near?

yes there is,do you think i should take her first thing tomo or straight away.

Take her tomorrow, just make sure you keep it clean and covered in the meantime, explain to them that she is diabetic and therefore at risk of infection.

Go to A&E - on diagnosis I was told that for any foot problems. My chemist refused to sell me athlete's foot ointment. One of the things that scared me on diagnosis was the information that diabetics are 15-20 times more likely to have amputation.
