Hi I'm hoping this is a silly question but I'm type 2 diagnosed about 5 years ago but probably twice that! Just had a long soak in the bath and it got cold so ran the hot water and my legs and soles of my feet noticed it getting hot but my toes didn't! I still have feeling in them just couldn't sense the temp. should I be worried?

I think it's worth asking for them to be checked, I'm sure it's fine but don't take any chances

Yes, I'd second that. You've nothing to lose asked the doc or getting an appointment to see the podiatrist. They can check for many things like oxygen and blood flow which you can't. You'll just worry until you do get it checked out.

Hi sounds like the beginning of diabetic neuropathy where you loose sensation in your extremeties in your case feet.Cause is too high sugar levels which damages the nerve endings.Sometimes I cant feel with the whole of my feet.So don,t go walking around with bare feet, you my tread on a nail or glass and not feel it(later stages like mine),See your doc and keep your sugar levels down, this will help

My toes feel as though they are frozen all the time, sometimes this feels a bit weird when i walk. I have never had really high BG levels so a bit unsure why this has happened. Sometimes I experience cramps in my toes or arch of my foot during the night, is this also related to the diabetes or something separate?

I have had all sorts of problems. One, cold toes and a constant tingling is due to Ramipril, a well known side effect, and I had it for a long time before I got diabetes. The second, cramps on the toes, and calf muscles sometimes, turns out to be due to simvastatin. It's stopped within a couple of weeks of stopping taking it. Started taking it again and in a few weeks it reappeared. Stopped again and it went away. I'm off to the docs to see if they can prescribe a different statin now.

If you toes feel cold, ask someone to feel them. Mine feel cold often but my wife says they feel warm to the touch. Your GP should test for the oxygenation of the blood supply.

I used to take Simvastatin but this was changed to Atorvastatin some time ago. I know that diabetes is somehow to blame for my feet problems but its odd as I never had really high BG levels. They have classed my feet as "moderate" risk whatever that means. I just don't know if the cramping is part if the problem. I will bring it up at my next appointment

In response to the cramps can I ask if you have any thyroid problems? I have an under active one and take thyroxine am am told that one of the side effects is cramps. I too get them in my toes, foot arches and calves

Yes I also have hypothyroidism and take levothyroxine however it's never been mentioned as a possible cause of the cramps. I also have hypoparathyroidisim which does cause cramps when my calcium levels are low however these cramps in my feet are not related to low calcium levels.
