Fennel

Hey everyone, does anyone know if fennel has any carbohydrates? It's not in the Carbs and Cals book, and my diabetic nurse said if it's not in there then it doesn't have carbs, but chestnuts aren't in it and they do.

From Mr Google:
Amount Per 100 grams
Total Carbohydrate 7 g

Edit: oops, I forgot that I probably should've removed the fibre -don't normally need to do that.
Dietary fiber 3.1 g (it was listed under the total carbs)

I do not use carbs and cals - a lot of what I eat is missing.
I just Google "carbs in ...".
The only thing to remember is to look for a UK site as in the US the carb values include fibre which is not digested whereas the UK values do not.

Love fennel - great braised and love it finely shredded in a slaw - fab with my almond "breaded" chicken I count it as 3g carb per 100g :)

Tesco claim 1.8g carbs per 100g weight (+2.8 g fibre). All vegetables will have some carbs, even if only a very few...

It's one of my go-to veggies for potassium and magnesium.
