Finding this really hard

Could somebody help me please?

How do/did you cope with the hypos?
I'm hypoing half an hour after my meals and it's making me feel rubbish.

Bloods have been running a little bit higher than I've been told they should be. They're usually between 7&9 before meals.
The problem I'm having is that I'm correcting them to bring them down when I'm eating my meals but am then having really bad hypos within half an hour of me eating.
How do I get them to where they should be without having the hypos? I had three hypos yesterday and a really low 2.9 after my lunch.

Feeling really guilty that I'm not enjoying being pregnant in the slightest at the moment :(

Thanks in advance

Depending on a few factors, there's a few things you can try. How far long are you? Do you use a pump or needles?

If you're higher before meals and going low after meals, you probably don't need to be correcting those pre-meal readings, but instead, trying to get your numbers lower in the couple of hours before you eat - so whatever is going on 2-4 hours before you eat probably needs to be changed. If you're pumping, raising the basal rate slightly. And if you're on needles, perhaps raising up your longer acting.

I would try to stop correcting at the meals and see how that goes and just concentrate on getting the pre-meal numbers down much farther in advance of eating. You may find that your meal ratios start to change too - if you stop correcting the higher numbers and are still going low after eating you might want to try a bigger ratio (ex: 1:10 vs 1:5).

Don't know how far along you are, but I didn't feel my anxiety about pregnancy easing up until the 2nd trimester and spent most of my first feeling frustrated, angry, and anxious. I don't think it's unusual - there's a lot more to think about than a lower risk pregnancy.

I agree with the above. Concentrate on getting your before meals results in range. That'll give you a double win - getting the before meals highs down and avoiding the correction hypos.

I hope you can enjoy your pregnancy then. It is hard work but it's so worth it.

Thank you so much for your replies. I'm 8+5 and am on a pump. What you're saying makes sense and I managed to get in touch with my DSN who said the same.
I've had an emotional day today and found it tough!
Hoping for a better more relaxed day tomorrow!

Thanks again.

Not much more I can add that hasn't already been said , and also read that you have been In touch with your Dsn and have had advise from them , which is always best .
Is such a hard and frustrating time , sometimes I would often have very small snacks inbetween meals to stop the hypos when I had tried everything with adjusting insulin , doesn't work for everyone but did me .

Hope things have improved a little bit for you since you posted ?
Take care. x

I had alot of hypos in my first trimester, I'd recommend just always keeping a bottle of lucosade on you at all times

Thanks Chloe, things are settling a bit now, I stopped correcting so much and things started to settle. I've been fitted with a CGM now so that should pin point what needs fixing.
My hypos got worse after I posted and I started to stop noticing them until they were in the 2s but my specialist said that's just something I need to deal with!
Will be doing a few carb free days in the coming weeks to see how my basal is doing as well so fingers crossed I'll know what's going on properly after that.

Thanks for your advice x
