Silly question but my mind has gone completely blank. What's the finger pricky thing called again?

Stabber (that’s actually what paramedics call them :D )

Mine's called Fang it came free in a box of lancets, I'd worn my original one out.

It’s a finger lancer device but I call it the finger stabber.
Mine is the Genteel. It's a wonderful painless pricker and not restricted to finger pricking only and can prick from many places on my body. I usually prick on my palms

I think people choose to prick fingers purely for the convenience and ease of transferring the blood to the strip. I tried my palm once and apart from finding it too painful it was difficult to get a neat drop. However where one wants to stab themselves with the little devils is entirely a matter of personal choice!

Absolutely its a personal choice. The thing is with my Genteel device it's not painful because I only need to make a very tiny and shallow prick and the vacuum it generates pulls up a neat drop.

I am very lucky I was able to get my insurance company to pay 70% for the cost of the Freestyle Libre. So mine is a sensor.
The specialist I saw got upset when I said the whole process was barbaric and medieval and designed to increase the wealth of the pharmaceutical companies and there shareholders.
Unless you have a cheap source of test strips, the FL costs less than these if you test more than 12 - 15 times a day. To get good control of your bg I think it is essential to test before and at least 2 times after each meal, then before sleeping and first thing in the morning. That's 14 tests a day. Not good on the finger tips and cannot be good for peripheral neuropathy in the hands.
Just my personal experience.
