Fingers sore

I've been regularly testing blood sugar past 2 weeks but I'm finding the finger pricking test is making my fingers bruised and sore. I keep changing the setting on the SD codefree lacet pen but on low settings it doesn't draw blood higher it leaves pin pricks in my fingers. I was just wondering if their is a better way of doing this? Totally new to it. Thank you.

I find different brands of lancets work better than others when it comes to pain.....

but most folk are stuck with the meter they are given...

where on the finger are you pricking?

how often do you change the lancet...?

this video should help.
are you pricking the sides of you fingers and are your hands warm when you test? after washing your hands run them under warm water.

Hi I'm pricking around the sides of my fingers and change the lancet every time I test. I use the SD codefree monitor so buy the strips and lancets from Amazon.

Hi thanks for that video I do not always make sure my hands are warm beforehand so I will try that. I didn't think the finger pricking would be that bad.

Not familiar with the lancing device for the SD Codefree, but if possible try and get one made by Accu-Chek (current model is the FastClix), in my opinion the Accu-Chek lancing devices are by far the best when it comes to comfort and reliability.

Nicole, when I first started testing I found my fingers got a bit sore too, but since then I have finessed my testing process.

In the beginning, I was holding the tip of the lancing device firmly on my finger, meaning any flesh was a bit compressed. Now I tend to just place the device on my finger so that the underlying flesh isn't compressed. That made a real difference to how it generally feels. Still, I can sometimes just hit a spot that stings a bit, but that's unusual.

Whilst I use the Codefree meter, I don't use the lancing device. I had another meter before I discovered the Codefree, and switched, due to the strips being significantly cheaper. I found the Codefree lancing device a bit more "aggressive" than my other one, so stuck with it.

Good luck with it all.
