all the things i am having
i have just taken my first reading about and hour after eating and it was 7.5, good, bad ??. How often should i be checking my levels without getting paranoid.

Here's the NICE recommendations for Type 2:-

Blood glucose ranges for type 2 diabetes

Before meals: 4 to 7 mmol/l
2 hours after meals: under 8.5 mmol/l

I'd have thought your reading was ok, but I'm not an expert.

I usually do a fasting morning test and then 2 hours after breakfast, though at the moment I'm doing a week or so of concentrated testing (before and after each meal, bedtime and during the night if I wake up) to get a handle on my levels during the rest of the day.

Hi

7.5 isn't too bad. Do take readings around 2 hours after a meal mainly to find out which foods affect you most. I would tend to take readings after a main meal rather than in the morning as your early morning readings can be affected by a glucose (glycogen) dump from the liver to get you ready for the day.
