So far I've lost over 2 stone but I've been left with this flabby belly which lays over my caesarean scar (38 years ago) which is getting sore. Any ideas for exercises I can do to tighten the skin? I know it will be difficult to do as I am rather old now (69) and old skin doesn't do what it did in my youth. Nobody told me that losing weight would hurt so much, I seem to have lost a lot of weight from my rear end and hard chairs are so painful, two spots where my bones are.

Hey well done, that's a massive achievement. Have you had a look at your local leisure centre to see what classes they run ? I wouldn't suggest diving in and doing anything like zumba or body pump, but try yoga or pilates, which is about core body strength, posture and breathing. They are more gentle exercises but also very good for improving muscle tone, I am not very flexy so cannot do some of the positions but enjoy it because there is no pressure and you do them at your own pace.

Unfortunately, excess skin can be one of the "Trophies" of very successful weight loss.

There isn't a whole lot you can do about it short of surgery. Many people do find that their skin does tighten over time (much slower than the weight loss itself).

I have a lot of excess skin after my massive weight loss - I actually hate it more than I hated being really big - there isn't a lot you can do and it's harder when your older - I actually think I would probably lose at least another stone instantly if I paid the £11000 I have been quoted for the surgery to remove it - if I was 20 years younger I would definitely consider the surgery but at 54 I am trying to reconcile myself to the fact that this is how I look - it gets me down and I am a lot less confident - I cover myself up more if I go on spa days with my friends and I still wear baggy clothes to hide it - I am a right funny shape around my middle - Lycra is my new best friend but even that can only achieve so much

As to the soreness keep it clean and dry - I shower every day and use a non talc powder after showering and before bed
