Flying with needles

Hi everyone,

Do I need any medical letters to accompany my needles for flights?

Or will they just let me on board with them? Thanks

You should probably get a letter from your GP/DSN just in case - but no one has ever asked to see mine!

I'd get one from your gp just to be safe but never have I once been asked for mine!

I have flown extensively, often twice a week both domestically and internationally, and have never once been stopped from travelling because of syringes or lancets in my hand luggage in 30 years. Pumps sometimes cause a little more confusion, but that has been discussed on other threads. Just politely explain you have diabetes related goods in your bag if they ask to search it ... There is nothing angrier than a security guard who spikes themselves because you didn't warn them!.

I have a letter and I've had to show it at least once. They would probably have let me continue after a few questions but the letter just made it quicker.

I got my GP to write a To Whomever It May Concern one that I could use for any trip.
