Good morning all my bg count this morning after fasting is 9.2 any one can follow me today just to see how well I do getting it down lower. By the end of the day for breakfast I,am going to have porridge with a banana then out I go for a two hour walk take a snack of tuna sandwich then tea time in the mean time I will keep up to date with my bg :) Happy Sunday everyone

6.5 is pretty good Ray, well done. The bread in your tuna sandwich may shoot you up a bit though, trial and error though !

Even if the bread is brown it will still raise yor BGs why not have your tuna with some salad or a piece of cheese

Hi Ray!

Hope you're day has been good! A couple of suggestions to get your BG a little better:

1. Swap the porridge and banana for 2 rashers bacon and 2 scrambled eggs.

2. Swap the tuna sandwich for a tuna salad.

All the best

i can vouch for there advice it works i promise you ... if i listen to my dn i still be in my 11s now it 5.6 average i have 2 slices burgon toast week that it for me no bannanas and the cheese a good choice and for tea tonight turkey and cauliflour mash with butternut squash chips yumm and filling good luck keep us posted xx

Try to only have a small amount of new potatoes Ray !

Hi Ray, if you eat enough vedge that should help. I opt for cauliflower cheese. Think its the cheese sauce that helps fill me up. We are having chicken too, (roast), with mountains of vedge and seasoned pudding. Only a small amount for me. Yum. to finish off home made Eves pud made with Splenda and almond flour. Enjoy yours, I'm going to. Will be watching your progress with interest.

Have you tried celeriac it does most things potatos do but with lower carbs they are good roasted with roast swede

If you ever need to snack, try celery with a bit of peanut butter - works for me! Drink plenty of water before dinner and you will start feeling full and won't be tempted to OD on new potatoes.

Excellent thread Raymond Starr.
Very interesting and worth reading.

Good luck with your quest.

Hi,

Try doing your test 2 hrs. after a meal to get a more meaningful result.
Good luck.

Morning, Raymond. Glad to see you're getting your head around the foods that make your levels spike. 17 down to 8.6 is a really big improvement - keep it up!

Water helps but it will not completely counteract the effects of high BG. Bread is regularly the first food to be dropped by T2s while they try to bring their levels down

You are doing great, Ray. It's not easy altering a diet you have had for decades, but so worth it when you start seeing the results :).
