CAROL
i must try this one thing i havnt yet thats for info carol x

Chicken and veg is fine ! Just not from KFC lol !

mate i don't mind what you eat :) and I'm not saying chicken and veg is bad either :)

your one off bg reading can be effected by what you eat in general, if i ate a slice of white bread my bgs would be up well into the next day regardless of my following meals, you have to consistently eat less carbs to make your numbers go where you would like them to be, if you see what I'm saying

just my opinion :) I'm no expert

i see that your doing great :) i am just trying to help you achieve your goal of getting your bg down, I'm sure you will anyway regardless of what i said

i run 40 miles a week currently, but then I'm training for the london marathon

its not really to get my bg down, its down already, its to keep me motivated

Andy's point is that eating potatoes with evening meal will mean your morning BG will be affected, hence the 9.8 today.

If you cut the potatoes out you would be lower this morning and not be struggling to get it down all day.

You don't have to, but you will find most T2s do. At least at first

its all about balance, how much your prepared to deprive yourself to get to where you want to be, some folks say its ok to eat spuds but accept slightly higher bgs, personally my numbers are more important to me than the food, over time I've learned to replace the foods that spike me so i no longer feel deprived at all, but in the beginning i would say cut it all out and then reintroduce things and test to see what happens :)

Cutting potatoes out together is the best advice.
However, I have a couple of roast potatoes with Sunday lunch and once or twice a month I have shepherds pie with reduced mash.
That's my compromise and the readings, for me, are acceptable.

Have you read the basic information advice for Newly Diagnosed. This includes some information about the role of carbs.

This is where a lot of us started it takes a bit of digesting at first but for me it worked and I think for a lot of others too

I will master this by the end. Just got to reeducate myself in to eating healthy

Lol, don't stop. Just better options. One of the worst is fried carbs (chips lol). High fat and high carb not good. pizza, chips, lasagne etc. as well as the mix of high fat and carb content they are very high calorie.
