Hey guys,

Had my first follow up with DN today pretty much straight after my first eye screening test. Walked in with my shades on as my eyes were a bit sensitive but I'm sure I just looked like a proper summer idiot. Lol.

My blood pressure was the lowest it's been at 126/78 so I'm happy with that. Over the last 12 weeks I've lost a total of 26lb (12kg if you're into that kind of thing), so happy there too.

She gave me my personalised target HbA1c, 48, and the date of my next HbA1c blood test, 25th July. This will be my first since the initial one in April that came in at 84. She told me that if I miss that target she'll want be to start metformin. I refused it initially as I wanted to try and get things under control without meds.

I feel like I'm on a roll with things and according to the mysugr app I should smash my target HbA1c. I just wanted to post to let people know you can make the changes and you do see the results. This forum has been a big help even though I don't post or reply very much I find it comforting to sit and read through all the posts. Everyone is so supportive so thanks.

Counting the days to this next blood test now. Fingers crossed!

Well done on your achievememts so far, keep up the good work!
I never thought in my life that I’d look forward to blood tests but yes I’m counting down the days til August for mine! :joyful::hilarious:

What the DN wants and what the DN gets may be two different things! Well done on your progress, smashing work.

Good one. The weight loss will be a big help in reaching the target. Weight is a bit underdone and sometimes not given the importance it deserves.

Well done! Wouldn't it be great if the nurse said 'I really hope that you make your target and if you miss it well talk about options!'
