foot dressings

Can anybody suggest suitable dressings for Type 2 feet that are dry cracking and peeling. I am using Mepore plus with Leukoplast around the edges to prevent them peeling off. I feel I need harder wearing padded dressings,can anyone suggest anything appropriate. I am not under any podiatric teatment at present as GP doesn't feel that it necessary at present.Seems a shame to have wait until ulcers develop.
 
Can't help, I'm afraid, as my feet are in good condition.

DO you use a moisturiser for them? I use Flexitol Heel Balm, which is available from most pharmacies, and is recommended for diabetic foot care. In your place I would also discuss the dressing problem with your pharmacist. S/he will know what is available and should be able to suggest good alternatives. Or your practice nurse may be able to help.

There are various insoles available to make feet more comfortable, including ones with a gel filling which used to be advertised on here somewhere.

My T1 husband has had lots of foot problems and the best cream so fa has been Body shop body butter, either the olive or the hemp variety.
However. As a diagnosed diabetic, you don't have to go through your GP to get podiatry treatment. Just look up your local Podiatry services number on your district hospital website and give them a call. They'll tell you what to do next. If they are anything like our local bunch, they're much better than the hospital or GP practice. They would rather see patients before major problems set in.

My nurse prescribed Aqueaous Cream BP which is a cheap pot of moisturising cream. You are supposed to rub it in but it takes a while so I ladle it on, make a half hearted gesture of rubbing it in and then put my socks on over it. It seems to work.

It doesn't stay around making a mess. When I eventually take the socks off it has all disappeared.
 
Aqueaous Cream is really good, I would not use any soap,gel etc; or scented products.

If you do not want to moisture you feet just use Aqueaous Cream to replace your soap and rinse well.

My doctor prescribes aqueaous for me as I have a dry skin problem (not any more with aqueaous)

There is also the Flexitol Foot and Heel Balm [ this is Diabetic friendly too ]

May be worth letting your own GP take a look , if podiatry treatment is needed
he can then refer you .
Some podiatry clinics have a dressings only day - mine does on every thursday .
At these if any dressing are needed they will do them on this day every week .
