Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone could please help me with this?

My mum is almost 80 years old and she is a Type 2 Diabetic. It is controlled with Merformin 500mg (one daily) and also with diet.

For a long while now my mums feet have been giving her trouble. She feels like she is "walking on air" and at times "like they are inside a balloon".
Tests have shown that she has lost some sensation in the nerve endings due to the diabetes. Its distressing seeing my mum annoyed as she is such an outgoing happy woman.

I was thinking of buying her the "Revitive Medic Circulation". I know it is rather expensive at £249.99 but I have saved up to get her one.

Please can I have your opinion on what to do? I would very much appreciate it as I am caring for her myself.

I’m sorry I don’t know much about these but it seems to be to promote circulation which may help your Mum if circulation is the problem, however her problem may be neuropathy, whether this would help that isn’t clear. How are her blood sugars? I wonder if they have more relevance to her problem.
Oh and btw if you do go ahead and buy one Boots have £50 off at the moment:

If that's the price including VAT, don't forget to get your VAT relief because it's a medical device for somebody with a medical condition. I see there's several different models and it's difficult to see the differences. The Boots offer is the same as the Revitive offer for that model.

Please can I have your opinion on what to do?

I have a Circulation Booster by High Tech Health. I've used it for years. From a personal point of view, I love it. From a technical point of view I have no empirical evidence if it works. However, after 20 years with type II, I still have pretty good feeling in both feet. My lymphodema is much better than it ever was and hardly noticeable and I enjoy feeling the muscles in my feet and legs right up beyond the knee contracting and releasing (perhaps I should admit t that, I might be a masochist LOL).

I see the Revitive equipment comes with an extended 60 day free trial so my thought would be go for it and make sure mum gives it a good try out. Hopefully you have nothing to lose if she's not happy with it.

All the best, I'd be interested to hear what your mum thinks.

I've not used one of those, but do you have to stand up on them for them to work? I'm kinda wondering if that would be practical for an elderly person with foot problems already. I'm also curious if you could get a device prescribed or supplied via the NHS, or some assistance towards the cost.

And when I was in hospital with a rather extensive DVT, I had an air cuff gizmo fitted to my calves to help with circulation. That was a 3-cell air cuff strapped around ankle & calf with an air pump that pulsed it to massage the leg. Not sure if that may be better if the problem's circulation related, but had the advantage of being usable in bed.
