Free meters sound great but the biggest cost is the test strips. It is always a good idea to keep an eye of the strip price.
Glucose meters are the diabetes equivalent of printers where HP or Epson make their money out of the ink cartridges.

Take care with a backup meter. I found it is only useful if it takes the same strips as my primary meter. On one occasion, my main meter failed so I went to use my backup only to find the strips were out of date.
I've just had to throw out a whole new tub of 50 test strips I'd bought for codefree meter that just failed the day after purchasing the strips!!!! Hopefully I won't need to use backup meter.

This Contour meter is not available in Australia, and if the strips are different from the Contour Next range yoiu will not get subsidised strips from the NDSS.

Contour Next and Next One are both free here in Australia and are good meters, and subsidised strips as well.

For comparison, my Gluco Navii strips are £5.76 a pot of 50,
Contour Next strips are normally around the $50.00 to $60.00 mark, for a 2 x 50 box from most pharmacies if you are not a member of NDSS.

I have a concession card so get mine for $1.20

Thank you have applied.

Update 27th September. Email from company saying I have qualified and will be posted a monitor within 28 days. If nothing else will be a good check to test reliability of my Accu Safe 2 monitor.
