Hello, and welcome to the forums, Helen.
Are you intending to follow a diet with reduced carbohydrates? Many of our members with T2 diabetes, do manage the condition that way. As long as you are not on medication that can potentially cause very low blood glucose levels (hypo) it can enable lowering blood glucose to non-diabetes levels. The definition of low carb varies. I think the books you refer to suggest around 150grammes of carbs a day? Some people go much lower than this. The good news is that some carbs can be replaced with the healthier fats, and you can eat cheese, cream , and nuts, olives, and olive oil, full fat yogurt, too. Some members even have bacon and eggs and good quality high meat content sausages, daily. This is sometimes difficult to understand as it goes against all advice on ‘healthy eating’ we have been subjected to over the years.

The recipe books are , I believe, designed for a low carbohydrate approach. So the carb foods, e.g. rice, bread, potatoes, most definitely anything with sugar, and most root vegetables need to be excluded, or at least reduced.
