Hello all, am I right in thinking type 2 diabetics can get free prescriptions with a medical cert from the GP, can't find anything specifically saying type 2 on nhs website etc.
Yes - if your type 2 diabetes is drug controlled - you can get a NHS medical exemption card which exempts you from prescription charges. Your GP surgery should be able to give you a form to fill out, which your GP will have to countersign. The process took about 3 weeks before I got my card.

If you keep your receipt from the pharmacy for any scripts you get before your card arrives, you can claim back any charges paid before you receive your medical exemption card.
